- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- melted butter - 1 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- chicken, cut into pieces - 1 item
- milk enough to make stiff dough - 1 item
How to make chicken and dumplings:
Stew chicken in a large stew pan with seasonings, in enough water to cover until well done. Remove chicken. Mix flour, baking powder, egg, salt, onion and melted butter. Add enough milk to make a stiff dough. Thicken chicken broth slightly with flour. Bring broth to a boil and drop dumplings by the teaspoonful into the boiling liquid. Turn down heat and cook slowly for 5 to 7 minutes. Do not cover while cooking.Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Whole chicken.
