  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 2 oz
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • powdered sugar - 1 item
  • margarine - 3/4 c
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • yeast - 1 pkg

How to make cheese filled coffee cake:

Mix yeast, water and 1 teaspoon sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes. Add egg. Cut margarine into flour and salt. Mix well. Add yeast mixture. Divide into 2 balls. Roll each into an 8 x 10-inch rectangle.

Filling: Combine cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice.

Spread 1/2 filling in center of each rectangle. Fold by taking each long edge toward the middle, making sure to overlap the sides a bit. Fold ends up 1 1/2-inches. Seal. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes. When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
