Caramel popcorn
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- packed brown sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- corn syrup - 1/2 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- popped corn - 4 5
- unsalted nuts - 2 c
How to make caramel popcorn:
In large shallow roaster or cake pan, combine popcorn and nuts. Place in 250° oven while preparing glaze.In heavy 2-quart saucepan, stir sugar, corn syrup, margarine and salt. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil over medium heat. Without stirring, boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour over popcorn mix, stirring to coat. Bake at 250°, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour. Cool. Break apart. Store tightly covered. Makes 5 quarts.
