Canned apple pie filling
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 10 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- lemon juice - 3 Tbsp
- perma flo - 1 c
How to make canned apple pie filling:
Bring first 6 ingredients to a boil, stirring constantly, then add lemon juice. Fill 7-quarts with sliced apples (Jonathans). Pour hot syrup over apples and seal. Process in hot water bath for 10 minutes.We like this for fruit, but I put in 1/4 cup red jello instead of the spices. Very handy to make apple crisp.
