Canned apple pie filling
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon
- cornstarch - 1 c
- water - 10 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- lemon juice - 3 Tbsp
- apples, peeled and sliced - 7 qt
- to 5 drops red food coloring - 3 item
How to make canned apple pie filling:
Bring water to boil. Stir sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg into boiling water. Cook until mixture thickens. Add lemon juice and coloring. Pack apples into clean, quart jars to within 1 inch of top. Pour hot syrup over apples. Process in hot water bath for 20 minutes.Recipe categories: Low protein, Fruit, Apple.
