How to make canned apple pie filling:
Cook and stir sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and water until thick and bubbly. Add 3 tablespoons lemon juice. Peel and slice the apples. Pack in clean jars. Do not pack tight. Fill to 1-inch from top with hot syrup. Put lids and rings on jars. Process in hot water bath: pints, 15 minutes and quarts, 20 minutes.Recipe categories: Low protein, Fruit, Apple.
