- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- margarine - 3 Tbsp
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- flour self-rising - 2 Tbsp
- Cheddar cheese, grated - 1 pkg
- crushed saltine crackers - 1 c
- cabbage medium - 1 item
How to make cabbage casserole:
Shred cabbage with knife. Cook cabbage in pot with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon margarine until tender. Make a white sauce by combining 2 cups milk, 2 tablespoons margarine, 2 tablespoons self-rising flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir constantly as sauce begins to thicken. Drain cabbage and mix with sauce. In a casserole dish alternately layer cabbage mixture and cheese ending with cheese on top. Sprinkle saltines on top.
