Ingredients/Components
- water
- raisins
- Spry or other shortening - 2 Tbsp
- sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- molasses - 1 Tbsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- nuts - 1/2 c
How to make boston brown bread:
Put water and raisins in large pan; boil for 5 minutes (cool). While still warm, add all other ingredients. Mix together well. Add nuts last. Grease cans fully to top. Half fill them. Bake until well brown in 350° oven for 45 to 60 minutes. CoRecipe categories: Breads, Breakfast, Northeastern U.S..
