- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- oil - 1/2 c
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- boiling water - 2 c
- plain flour - 4 c
- raisins - 2 c
How to make boston brown bread:
Boil water, raisins and baking soda for 2 minutes. Set aside and let cool. Cream sugar and oil. Add eggs, salt, flour and nuts. Mix together with raisin mixture. Bake in 6 well-greased cans (cans are No. 2 size, like English peas, corn, etc.). Fill cans half full. Bake at 300° for 55 minutes.Delicious when sliced and served with cream cheese.
