Ingredients/Components
- raisins - 2 c
- soda - 2 tsp
- water
- sugar - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 3 Tbsp
- molasses - 1/2 c
- flour
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- nuts - 1 c
How to make boston brown bread:
Boil raisins and soda in water for 1 minute. Set aside to cool. Cream both sugars, shortening and eggs. Add molasses, flour, salt and vanilla. Add nuts. Add raisins. Spray small pans with Pam and fill half full with mixture. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Makes 5 cans.Recipe categories: Breads, Breakfast, Northeastern U.S..
