  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • cold water - 1/2 c
  • baking powder
  • hot water - 3 c
  • lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
  • honey
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • diced carrots - 1 c
  • diced potatoes - 1 c
  • diced onions - 1/3 c
  • dash ground allspice - 1 item
  • Canola oil - 1 Tbsp
  • whole bay leaf - 1 item
  • clove diced garlic - 1 item
  • 1/2-inch cubed extra lean beef - 1 lb
  • recipe dumplings - 1 item

How to make beef stew with dumplings:

Dumplings:1 c. flour1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1 1/2 tsp. honey1 Tbsp. Canola oil1/2 c. water Brown meat; combine all ingredients, except carrots, potatoes, cold water and flour in a 5-quart pot. Cover. Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours or until the meat is very tender. Add carrots and potatoes and cook for 10 minutes. Stir together the cold water and flour, then stir into the stew until smooth. Follow recipe for dumplings. Drop in mounds into broth. Cover and cook over very low heat for 15 minutes or until done.

Dumplings: Stir all ingredients until moistened, then drop into soup or stew.
