Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- water - 4 c
- cold water - 1/2 c
- Crisco - 2 Tbsp
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- paprika - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- bay leaf - 1 item
- clove garlic - 1 item
- carrots - 6 item
- potatoes, cubed - 1 lb
- large onion - 1 item
- stew beef - 2 lb
- large onions - 2 item
- dash of allspice - 1 item
How to make beef stew:
Heat Crisco. Add stew beef and brown 20 minutes. Slice onion. Add with 4 cups water, garlic salt, lemon juice, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, paprika, bay leaf and allspice. Simmer in a large pan for 2 hours. Add vegetables and cook for 30 minutes, until vegetables are tender.Discard bay leaf and garlic. Make thickening. Mix 1/4 cup flour and 1/2 cup cold water. Stir until smooth. Add to stew and heat for 20 minutes.
