Beef jerky
Ingredients/Components
- salt
- garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- soy sauce - 1/4 c
- onion powder - 1/2 tsp
- A - 1/4 c
- Tabasco sauce optional - 1/4 tsp
- barbecue sauce optional - 1/4 tsp
- hickory smoke flavor - 1 tsp
- fatless beef - 1 1
How to make beef jerky:
Marinade*:1/8 tsp. salt1/4 c. soy sauce1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce1/4 tsp. pepper1/4 tsp. garlic powder1/2 tsp. onion powder1 tsp. hickory smoke flavor1/4 c. A.1. sauce1/4 tsp. barbecue sauce (optional)1/4 tsp. Tabasco sauce (optional) *Or use commercially prepared marinade.Mix ingredients in loaf style pan. Put in strips of thin sliced beef. Put pan in bag and in refrigerator for 24 hours.
Lay strips across middle oven rack. Set oven at lowest setting, no higher than 200°. Leave oven door cracked open. Dry in oven for 2 to 5 hours or until dry. Check hourly. Do not let meat become brittle. Store in glass container in refrigerator.
Note: Meat can also be dried in a dehydrator, in a smoker or in the sun.
