  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk
  • stick butter - 1 item
  • packed light brown sugar - 1 c
  • loaf French bread - 1 item
  • corn syrup light or dark - 2 Tbsp

How to make baked french toast:

Baking dishes: Use either 1 (9 x 13-inch) or 2 (8 x 8-inch) dishes.

In saucepan, mix and melt over medium heat, brown sugar, butter and corn syrup (light or dark). While mixture melts, prepare baking dish with Pam.

Slice loaf of French bread into 3/4 to 1-inch slices (2 slices of bread per person). Pour well blended butter/sugar mixture in pan. Arrange bread slices flat in mix. In blender, mix eggs, milk and vanilla. Pour all of mixture over bread slices, do not miss covering any area. Excess mixture will be absorbed by the bread slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 350°. Let dish sit 20 minutes at room temperature before baking. Uncover and bake 30 minutes. Serve directly from baking dish - butter and syrup not needed. Flip slices over to syrup side as you cut and serve.
