  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
  • butter or margarine, softened - 1/2 c
  • oatmeal - 1/2 c
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • pie crust - 1 item
  • Filling:7 medium-large tart apples such as Granny Smith

How to make apple crumble pie:

Filling:7 medium-large tart apples (such as Granny Smith)1 Tbsp. lemon juice1/2 c. sugar3 Tbsp. flour1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/8 tsp. nutmeg Topping:3/4 c. flour1/2 c. oatmeal1/2 c. brown sugar1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened Have ready a 9-inch pie plate and cookie sheet. Place oven rack in lowest position in oven. Heat oven to 450°. Place pie crust in pie plate; crimp edges.

Filling: Peel, halve and core apples. Slice in 1/4-inch slices. Put in large bowl and toss with lemon juice. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg in small bowl; sprinkle over apples and mix thoroughly. Put mixture in pie crust.

Topping: Mix flour, oatmeal and brown sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly. Pat topping evenly over apples to form top crust. Place pie on cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° and bake 45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack.
