Apple crumble
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 4
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- butter - 1/4 lb
- ground ginger - 1/4 tsp
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- large cooking apples
- small jug thick cream unwhipped - 1 item
How to make apple crumble:
Peel, core and cut into eighths the large cooking apples. Mix in a 1-quart glass baking dish with sugar, juice of lemon and cinnamon.Crumble: In a mixing bowl, put butter, flour, sugar and ginger. Rub the fat into the flour until it is the consistency of fine bread crumbs. Add sugar and ground ginger; mix in well. Sprinkle the crumble over the apple and press down lightly.
Bake in a 350° oven until golden brown and apples are cooked, 30 to 40 minutes. Serve with small jug of thick cream.
This is also good made with other fruit (blueberries, peaches, etc.).
