Apple crumble
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/3 c
- flour
- margarine - 1/2 c
- cooking apples
- sugar to sweeten - 1 item
- cinnamon and raisins optional - 1 item
How to make apple crumble:
Peel, core and slice apples. Grease a 2-pint dish; fill with sliced apples, layered with sugar to taste (add cinnamon and/or raisins, if desired). Rub butter into flour until mixture resembles breadcrumbs; add sugar and mix. Sprinkle crumble thickly over fruit; press down lightly. Put into preheated 375° oven and bake for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350°; bake about 45 minutes more, until top is light brown. Serve with cream or ice cream.To vary, use different fruit such as gooseberries, rhubarb, apple and blackberries, black currants or plums. Canned fruit or canned pie filling mixed with apples is also good.
