Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 3/4 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- butter or margarine - 3/4 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- evaporated milk - 1/4 c
- nutmeg - 3/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- baking soda
- powdered sugar - 1 lb
- softened butter
- ground cloves - 3/4 tsp
- apple butter
How to make apple butter layer cake:
Creamy Vanilla Frosting:1/2 c. softened butter1/4 c. evaporated milk2 tsp. vanilla1 lb. powdered sugar Cake: Stir together flour, soda, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. Beat butter and sugar together until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Combine buttermilk and apple butter. Add alternately with the flour mixture, mixing well after each addition. Pour into greased 9-inch round pans. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool thoroughly on cake rack. Frost cooled cake with Creamy Vanilla Frosting.Creamy Vanilla Frosting: In small mixing bowl, combine butter, milk, vanilla and sugar. Mix until smooth. Use a few drops of milk if consistency is too thick. Frost Apple Butter Cake.
