Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- tsp salt - 3/4 item
- 1/2 tsp vanilla - 1 item
- 1/2 cups sugar - 1 item
- cup butter or margarine, softened - 1/2 item
- 1/2 tsp baking soda - 1 item
- 1/2 cups powdered sugar - 4 item
- cup shortening - 1/4 item
- cup finely chopped nuts - 1/2 item
- 1/2 cups buttermilk - 1 item
- Tbsp grated orange peel - 1 item
- 1/2 cups all purpose flour, or 2 3/4 cups cake flour - 2 item
- cup golden raisins, cut up - 1 item
- Williamsburg Butter Frosting:1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 4-5 Tbsp orange-flavored liqueur or orange juice
How to make williamsburg orange cake:
Williamsburg Butter Frosting:1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened4 1/2 cups powdered sugar 4-5 Tbsp orange-flavored liqueur or orange juice1 Tbsp grated orange peel Heat oven to 350 Grease & flour a 13x9x2 inch, or two 9-inch, or three 8-inch pans. Beat all ingredients in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes. Pour into pans. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, oblong 45-50 minutes, layers 30-35 minutes. Cool.Williamsburg Butter Frosting: Mix butter & powdered sugar. Beat in liqueur & orange peel.
