Tomato sauce
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- chopped fresh parsley - 2 Tbsp
- bay leaf - 1 item
- chopped green pepper - 1 Tbsp
- clove garlic - 1 item
- oregano - 1 tsp
- basil - 1/8 tsp
- onion, chopped - 1/2 item
- tomato paste - 3/4 c
- small carrot, grated - 1 item
- tomatoes, fresh or canned - 2 c
- dates, minced - 1 Tbsp
How to make tomato sauce:
Steam onion and garlic until onion is soft. Add carrot, green pepper, bay leaf and herbs. Stir well, then add the tomatoes, tomato paste and seasonings.Simmer for 30 minutes. Makes about 2 cups. This sauce becomes tastier with time. Add vegetable juice to thin it to desired consistency for spaghetti.
