Ingredients/Components

  • fryer, cut up - 1 item
  • flour - 1 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • paprika - 1 tsp
  • chopped green pepper - 1 c
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • can tomatoes - 1 item
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • basil - 1 tsp
  • garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
  • parsley flakes - 1 Tbsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • sugar
  • dry red wine - 1/2 c

How to make chicken cacciatore:

Preheat oven to 350°. Into Brown-in-Bag, add 1 tablespoon flour, salt, pepper, paprika, green pepper, onion and tomatoes (no juice) and chicken. Put bag in pan. Blend 1/4 cup flour with tomato liquid. Add remaining seasonings and wine. Pour into bag. Close bag with tie. Make slits in top. Cook 1 hour and 20 minutes. Serve over rice or with potatoes.
