  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp
  • butter or margarine - 1/2 lb
  • flour - 3 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • egg yolks - 3 item
  • soda
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • cloves - 1 tsp
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz

How to make tomato cake:

Sift flour; measure it, then sift again with all dry ingredients except the sugar. Cream the shortening and sugar; add the egg yolks, then add the sauce (to which the 1/2 cup water has been added) alternately with the dry ingredients. Add vanilla. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
