Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • eggs - 4 item
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • water - 2 c
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • soda
  • baking powder
  • cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • plain yogurt - 1 c
  • stick oleo - 1 item
  • white raisins - 3/4 c
  • pitted dates - 1 lb

How to make date nut bread:

Place dates, raisins and water in pan to boil slowly 15 minutes covered. Set aside for cooling or even overnight. Cream sugars and oleo; add eggs. Beat well, then add all ingredients and flour. Stir well. Add 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired. Make 4 small to medium loaves or 3 large loaves. Bake at 325° for 25 minutes, then at 300°. Total Baking Time: 45 to 55 minutes. Test for doneness with a toothpick. Do not overbake.
