Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- chocolate chips 12 oz - 1 pkg
- egg - 1 item
- oleo - 1 c
- brown sugar, packed - 1 c
How to make toffee bars:
Heat oven to 350°. Beat oleo and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Add flour and salt; mix well. Spread dough into 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Sprinkle immediately with chips; let stand several minutes to melt. Spread melted chocolate evenly over surface; sprinkle with pecans. Cool; cut in bars. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.Variation: Top squares with vanilla ice cream and caramel topping.
