Sweet and sour stuffed cabbage
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 1/4 c
- water - 1 c
- egg - 1 item
- seedless raisins - 1/2 c
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- hamburger - 1 lb
- juice of 1 lemon
- cooked rice - 1/2 c
- onion, sliced thin - 1 c
- canned tomatoes - 2 c
- to 12 cabbage leaves - 10 item
How to make sweet and sour stuffed cabbage:
Use large outside leaves of cabbage. Place in boiling water 5 minutes to soften. Combine meat, rice, egg, salt, pepper and half the raisins. Put a generous amount on each leaf; fold in sides. Roll up and fasten with wooden picks. Shred the heart of cabbage. Line bottom of heavy kettle with shredded cabbage. Put stuffed cabbage on top. Add remaining shredded cabbage, onion, raisins, lemon juice, sugar, tomatoes and water. Simmer gently for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.Recipe categories: Main dish, Ground beef, Beef.
