Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 qt
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- whole wheat flour - 3 c
How to make flat bread:
Cream sugar and shortening together. Add buttermilk gradually; mix in salt and whole wheat flour. Sift remaining dry ingredients together, add all at one time. Mix well. Roll out on a pastry cloth until almost paper thin. Place on a cookie sheet. Bake in 375° oven for 12 minutes or until brown and crisp.Recipe categories: Lunch/snacks, Main dish, Pizza.
