Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • oregano - 2 tsp
  • tomato paste - 3 c
  • tomato sauce - 1 c
  • green pepper, chopped - 2 c
  • stalks celery, chopped - 4 item
  • medium onions, chopped - 6 item
  • oil or shortening - 8 Tbsp
  • tomatoes, chopped and peeled - 14 c

How to make spaghetti sauce:

In a frying pan, cook onions, celery and green peppers in oil until tender. In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, add these to remaining ingredients and simmer, covered, for several hours until desired thickness is reached. Stir occasionally. Cook, uncovered, for last of period of time to hasten thickening.
