Ingredients/Components

  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped green pepper - 1/4 c
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • can stewed tomatoes - 1 oz
  • sliced smoked sausage - 1 item
  • water - 1/2 c
  • bay leaves - 2 item
  • dried thyme - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • basil - 1/2 tsp
  • crushed red pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • dash of black pepper - 1 item
  • rice raw - 1 c
  • shrimp - 1 lb

How to make shrimp jambalaya:

In saucepan, cook onion, green pepper and garlic in butter until tender. Stir in flour; blend well. Stir in undrained tomatoes, sausage, water, bay leaves, thyme, salt, basil, red pepper, pepper, uncooked rice and shrimp. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and cook over medium heat. Stir frequently for 10 to 15 minutes until rice and shrimp are done. Remove bay leaves. Serve. Makes 6 servings.
