Jambalaya
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- water
- shortening - 1 Tbsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- chopped onion - 1 c
- chopped green pepper - 1 c
- chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
- rice - 2 c
- cayenne pepper - 1/4 tsp
- can whole tomatoes - 1 oz
- thyme - 1/2 tsp
- Worcestershire - 2 Tbsp
- shrimp - 1 lb
- ham - 1 lb
How to make jambalaya:
In large skillet, cook ham 5 minutes. Drain off all but 2 tablespoons fat. Add pepper, onion and garlic. Cook until tender. Blend in flour and brown slowly stirring often. Stir in tomatoes, water and parsley. Bring to a boil and add rice, Worcestershire, salt, thyme and pepper. Return to boil. Reduce and simmer covered 20 minutes. Add shrimp and cook 10 minutes longer.Recipe categories: Poultry, Meat, Cajun.
