- packed brown sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- molasses - 2 Tbsp
- cider vinegar - 1/4 c
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 3 Tbsp
- ketchup - 1 c
- prepared mustard - 2 Tbsp
- large onions, chopped - 2 item
- chili sauce - 2/3 c
- cayenne pepper - 1/4 tsp
- vegetable oil, divided - 3 Tbsp
- beef broth - 1 c
- liquid smoke optional - 1 Tbsp
- to 16 kaiser rolls or hamburger buns - 12 item
How to make shredded barbecued beef:
In a Dutch oven, brown roast on all sides in 1 tablespoon of oil.Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, saut?© onions in remaining oil until tender. Add the next 13 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour over roast. Cover and bake at 325° for 2 hours; turn the roast. Bake 2 hours longer or until meat is very tender. Remove roast; shred with a fork and return to sauce. Serve on rolls. Yield: 12 to 16 servings.
