Sausage gravy
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 qt
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 6 Tbsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- dash of hot pepper sauce - 1 item
- dash of Worcestershire sauce - 1 item
- finely chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
- poultry seasoning - 1/2 tsp
- sage flavored bulk pork sausage - 1 lb
- cooked biscuits homemade or store bought - 1 item
How to make sausage gravy:
Crumble sausage into a large saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat. Add onion. Cook and stir until transparent. Drain, discarding all but 2 tablespoons of drippings.Stir in flour. Cook over medium-low heat about 6 minutes or until mixture bubbles and turns golden. Stir in milk. Add seasonings. Cook, stirring until thickened.
To serve, slice biscuits and spoon gravy over halves. Yields 4 to 6 servings.
