Ingredients/Components

  • medium onion, diced - 1 item
  • medium green pepper, diced - 1 item
  • stick margarine or butter - 1 item
  • small jar chopped pimento - 1 item
  • regular rice not instant - 1 c
  • handful fine egg noodles, crushed in hand - 1 item

How to make rice pilaf:

Melt margarine; add crushed egg noodles and brown lightly. Add two cups mixture of beef consomme and water and bring to a boil. Add rice; cover and simmer about 10 minutes. Add the chopped vegetables and pimento; cover and simmer another 15 to 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

You do not have to use a full stick of margarine or butter in these fat conscious days.
