Rhubarb cream pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 Tbsp
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- eggs, separated - 2 item
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- diced rhubarb - 2 c
- pie shell - 1 item
How to make rhubarb cream pie:
Melt butter. Add rhubarb and 1 cup sugar; cook slowly until rhubarb is soft. Combine 1/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, milk and salt in a bowl. Add to rhubarb; cook until thick. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes.While baking, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy. Add rest of sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff. Spread on pie; bake until brown, about 10 minutes. Cool away from draft.
