Rhubarb cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- brown sugar
- butter - 1/2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- powdered sugar - 2 c
- buttermilk or sour milk - 1 c
- beaten egg - 1 item
- egg white, stiffly beaten - 1 item
- Mix together with other ingredients
How to make rhubarb cake:
Cream sugars and butter well. Mix together with other ingredients. Put 1/2 batter in pan. Sprinkle 2 cups sliced rhubarb (raw) on top. Cover with remaining batter. Sprinkle with a mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon on top. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.Frosting:1/2 c. butter1 egg white, stiffly beaten1 tsp. vanilla2 c. powdered sugar Sprinkle nuts on top.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
