Ingredients/Components

  • rump roast - 3 4
  • salt or seasoned meat tenderizer - 1 item
  • pepper - 1 item
  • vegetable oil - 3 Tbsp
  • water - 1/2 c

How to make pot roast of beef:

Rub salt and pepper into beef. Brown on all sides with vegetable oil in heavy roaster. Add 1/2 cup of water. Cover tightly. Simmer until tender, about 3 hours. Turn occasionally. Vegetables (carrots and potatoes) may be added during last hour of cooking roast.

For gravy, skim off 2 tablespoons fat in pan. Add 2 tablespoons flour. Stir out lumps until well blended. Add 1 cup of water. Return to pan and cook after removing roast.
