Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- bay leaf - 1 item
- small onion, sliced - 1 item
- white vinegar
- mixed pickling spices - 1 tsp
- to 8 eggs, hard-cooked - 6 item
How to make pickled eggs:
Simmer all ingredients, except eggs, uncovered for ten minutes. Peel hard-cooked eggs and put them in a one-quart glass jar, loosely, so that the pickling solution can circulate freely. Pour hot mixture over eggs, seal and refrigerate. The pickling process takes several days.Variation: For red pickled eggs, add 1/2 cup beet juice to the pickling mixture.
