Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • water - 1 item
  • oil - 1 item
  • rum - 1/2 c
  • yellow cake mix - 1 item
  • pecans or walnuts - 1 c
  • Glaze:1 stick butter
  • light or dark rum - 1/2 c

How to make holiday rum cake:

Glaze:1 stick butter1/4 c. water1 c. sugar1/2 c. rum Prepare cake mix according to package directions, replacing 1/2 rum for water. Sprinkle chopped nuts on bottom of Bundt pan. Fill with batter and bake as directed on package, for 1 hour. When done, invert and cool.

Prepare glaze. Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in water and sugar. Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove and cool. Then stir in 1/2 cup rum. Prick top of cake and drizzle glaze on top and sides. Allow cake to absorb glaze. Decorate with holly, sugar frosting or cherries. Best when prepared a day ahead.
