Pepper steak
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 3 Tbsp
- catsup - 1/2 c
- finely chopped onion - 1/2 c
- fresh mushrooms - 1 pkg
- rice - 1 item
- clove minced garlic - 1 item
- medium onions, cut into rings - 2 item
- round steak, cut into small pieces - 1 lb
- large green peppers, cut into rings - 2 item
How to make pepper steak:
Brown meat in shortening; remove. Blend flour into shortening from which meat was removed. Add catsup, water, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, garlic and chopped onion. Bring to a boil. Lower heat to simmer for 20 minutes. Drop meat into sauce and cook only until tender. (This much can be done 2 or 3 days before serving and stored in refrigerator.). Ten minutes before serving, add fresh vegetables. Cook until crisply tender, about 10 minutes. Serve on hot fluffy rice. Serves 6.Recipe categories: Main dish, Meat, Beef.
