  • milk - 1/2 3/4
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • margarine - 1 Tbsp
  • shredded sharp Cheddar cheese - 1 c
  • can cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
  • saltine crackers, crushed - 16 item
  • medium or large Vidalia onions - 4 item

How to make onion casserole:

Melt margarine over medium heat and saute onions until clear. Grease a 2-quart casserole dish with 1 tablespoon of margarine. Reserve 12 saltine crackers. Crumble for topping. Line dish with remaining cracker crumbs. Add onions and soup in alternate layers until dish is full. Cover top with eggs and pour milk over top. Spread grated cheese and cracker crumbs over top. Bake at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes.
