Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 item
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • boiling water - 4 c
  • rolled oats - 2 c
  • lard - 2 Tbsp
  • yeast - 2 pkg

How to make oatmeal bread:

Put oats, sugar, lard and salt in a bread mixer. Pour over them the boiling water. Let cool. Add yeast and mix well. Add white flour, enough to make stiff ball. Turn until ball holds its shape, take 6 to 8 cups flour to start with. Add more if needed as dough is sticky after rising. Makes 3 loaves, 1 1/2 pounds each.
