Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 item
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- boiling water - 4 c
- rolled oats - 2 c
- lard - 2 Tbsp
- yeast - 2 pkg
How to make oatmeal bread:
Put oats, sugar, lard and salt in a bread mixer. Pour over them the boiling water. Let cool. Add yeast and mix well. Add white flour, enough to make stiff ball. Turn until ball holds its shape, take 6 to 8 cups flour to start with. Add more if needed as dough is sticky after rising. Makes 3 loaves, 1 1/2 pounds each.(1994 Note: Use with caution, preferably with a good bread book.)
