Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • cold water - 1/3 c
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • can evaporated milk - 1 item
  • cans minced clams - 2 item
  • diced celery - 1 c
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • can crabmeat - 1 item
  • can tiny shrimp - 1 item
  • medium potatoes, peeled and cubed - 5 item
  • fresh chopped parsley - 1 item
  • jar pimentos, drained - 1/2 item
  • whitefish skin and bones removed - 1 lb

How to make new england seafood chowder:

In a large kettle, place fish and enough water to cover. Cook 10 minutes. Remove fish and break into bite size pieces. Measure liquid and add enough to make 4 cups.

Cook celery, onion and potatoes until tender. Combine 1/3 cup cold water and flour to make paste. Stir into chowder. Add fish, clams with liquid, shrimp, crabmeat, salt, pepper, butter, milk and pimento. Heat through, stirring occasionally. Garnish with parsley. Makes 3 1/2 quarts.
