New england clam chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- water
- cream - 1 c
- onion, chopped - 1/2 c
- potatoes, diced - 4 c
- salt pork, minced - 4 oz
How to make new england clam chowder:
In saucepan, cook salt pork until crisp. Remove any lean pieces of pork; save. Add the potatoes, 1 1/2 cups of water, onion and clam liquor to drippings. Cook, covered, until potatoes are tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Add clams, 1 3/4 cups milk and the cream. Blend together 1/4 cup milk and flour; stir into chowder. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.
