Molasses cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- flour
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 2 tsp
- molasses - 1 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- eggs, lightly beaten - 3 item
- hot water - 2 Tbsp
- lard or shortening - 1 c
How to make molasses cookies:
Mix all ingredients except the flour together. Then add the flour to make a stiff dough. Place part of the dough on a lightly floured pastry cloth. Knead dough to desired consistency. Roll out about 1/8-inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter. Place on floured cookie sheet in a 325° oven until firm. Remove from sheet to wire rack immediately.
