Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • butter - 2/3 c
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • jam - 3/4 c
  • cake flour - 2 c
  • sour milk - 1/3 c

How to make jam cake:

Cream shortening; add sugar. Add beaten egg yolks and jam. Sift the flour. Measure; add baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg and sift 3 times. Dissolve soda in the sour milk. Add flour and milk alternately to the mixture, beating well. Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites and bake in 2 layer pans about 25 minutes in moderate oven (350°).
