Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- flour - 3 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 3/4 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- stick butter - 1/2 item
- dash of salt - 1 item
- raisins - 1 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- white Karo syrup - 2 Tbsp
- black walnuts - 1 c
- box powdered sugar - 1 item
- sweet milk
- blackberry jam - 1 c
- chopped orange - 1 c
- Add eggs one at a time, beating after each egg
- Whip for 5 minutes
How to make jam cake:
Cream Crisco and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each egg. Combine dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Blend in buttermilk, jam and raisins. Pour into 3 greased and floured pans and bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Jam Cake Filling For Between Layers:3 c. sugar1 1/2 c. sweet milk1/2 stick butter1 c. raisins1 c. chopped orange1 c. coconut1 c. black walnuts Boil sugar, sweet milk and butter until thick enough to whip. Whip for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool. Add raisins, orange, coconut and walnuts. Spread between layers of cake.Caramel Icing:2/3 stick butter1 c. brown sugar2 Tbsp. white Karo syrup1/2 c. milk dash of salt1 box powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Melt butter; add brown sugar, syrup, milk and salt.
