  • cold water - 1 c
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • frozen whipped topping, thawed - 1 item
  • Betty Crocker SuperMoist Butter Recipe yellow cake mix - 1 pkg
  • Jell-O brand strawberry flavor - 1 serving)

How to make strawberry poke cake:

You will need two round pans (8 or 9 x 1/2-inch). Do not use pans with removable bottoms.

Heat oven to 350°. Grease and flour pans. Prepare and bake cake mix as directed on package. Place cooled cake layers, top sides up, back in the 2 clean pans. Prick each layer with utility fork at 1/2-inch intervals. Pour boiling water over gelatin in bowl; stir until gelatin is dissolved. Stir in cold water. Spoon half of the gelatin over each layer. Refrigerate 4 hours. Dip 1 cake layer in pan into warm water for 10 seconds. Invert on plate, gently shaking to loosen from pan. Spread layer with whipped topping. Remove remaining layer from pan as above. Invert on first layer. Frost with remaining whipped topping. Store cake in refrigerator.
