- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- milk - 1/4 c
- flour - 3 c
- brown sugar
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- soda
- buttermilk
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- nuts - 1 c
- sifted confectioners sugar - 1 to
- cloves - 1 tsp
- jam - 1 c
- allspice - 1 tsp
- Crisco shortening - 3/4 c
- preserves - 1 c
- raisins, floured - 1 c
- Add eggs, jam and preserves
How to make jam cake:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, jam and preserves. Sift together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and nutmeg. Add alternately with buttermilk. Fold in raisins and nuts. Bake in tube pan 1 hour at 250°, then at 350° for 1 more hour.Quick Caramel Frosting:1/2 c. margarine1 c. brown sugar1/4 c. milk1 3/4 to 2 c. sifted confectioners sugar Melt margarine in saucepan. Add brown sugar; boil over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add milk; continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat.
