Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- milk - 1 pt
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 6 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- lard - 1/2 c
- cake yeast - 1/2 item
- lukewarm water - 1/2 c
How to make icebox rolls:
Combine milk, sugar and lard and bring to a boil. Set aside to cool. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water. Add to liquid. Sift dry ingredients. Add one cup at a time to liquid, stirring well. If dough seems sticky, can use more flour. Let rise 3 hours. Knead down and put in refrigerator and use as needed. Let rolls rise 3 hours before baking. Will bake in 30 minutes at 375°.In loving memory of Hazel Krause Wilt.
