Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • milk - 1 pt
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 6 c
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • lard - 1/2 c
  • cake yeast - 1/2 item
  • lukewarm water - 1/2 c

How to make icebox rolls:

Combine milk, sugar and lard and bring to a boil. Set aside to cool. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water. Add to liquid. Sift dry ingredients. Add one cup at a time to liquid, stirring well. If dough seems sticky, can use more flour. Let rise 3 hours. Knead down and put in refrigerator and use as needed. Let rolls rise 3 hours before baking. Will bake in 30 minutes at 375°.
