Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- milk - 1 qt
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 5 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- sifted flour - 4 c
- yeast - 1 pkg
How to make icebox rolls:
Scald milk. Add shortening and sugar. Cool to 115° and then add yeast and 4 cups sifted flour and beat. Let rise.Sift 5 cups flour, baking powder, salt and soda together and then beat into milk mixture. Then turn mixture on floured board and work about 2 cups of sifted flour into mixture. Put in greased bowl. Cover with waxed paper and keep in refrigerator. Let rise for 3 to 4 hours. Bake at 400° for 10 to 15 minutes.
