- milk
- salt
- oil - 1/4 c
- all-purpose flour - 6 6
- honey - 1/3 c
- yeast - 2 pkg
- warm water 105~ to 115~ - 1/2 c
- oats uncooked - 2 c
- butter or margarine, melted optional - 1 item
How to make honey oatmeal bread:
Combine milk, honey, oil and salt in a saucepan; heat to 115°. Set aside. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl; let stand 5 minutes. Add milk mixture, oats and two cups flour; mix well. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Place in a well-greased bowl, turning to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place for one hour or until double. Punch down and divide dough into loaves. Place in two well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch pans. Brush with butter if desired. Cover and let rise 40 minutes. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until loaves sound hollow when tapped. Remove from pans and let cool on wire racks.
